Meet the Business Owner: Miguel- Manuel - Established in 2013 Madeira, a beautiful Portuguese island and inspiration for the atmosphere of the newly opened Bistro 12 in Tarrytown. Life-long friends who have, at long last, created their dream restaurant. Jose Manuel Goncalves Pereira and Luis Miguel Rodrigues have known each other since the age of 17, so it's hardly surprising that Bistro 12 evokes the landscape of their youth. Fans of Caravela will recognize Manuel, nicknamed "MADEIRA" from his 24-year stint there. MIGUEL years at Polpo, the popular upscale Italian restaurant in Greenwich,Connecticut They have created their own unique bistro establishment, given this amiable team the knowledge and skills to provide a warm, welcoming and gracious atmosphere dedicated to providing a genial dining experience for their customers. Miguel Rodrigues' artwork is the product of a life-long passion. You will see memories of his country come alive - the markets, families, city and country scenes he loves. Enjoying a variety of painting styles, he has produced over 1500 works of art in his Yonkers studio, and has chosen the most evocative paintings with which to decorate the walls of his newest venture.

The food was great. Portugese cuisine with some Italian standards. The service was great and the owner was incredibly friendly. A must do

Ate there for a business lunch. I had seen the place and didn't think much of it but I wanted to give it a try based on the reviews. The food was great and the service was very warm. It wasn't that crowded so we lingered for a bit and had some coffee. Very enjoyable. Will certainly go back.

We had a delicious meal at Bistro 12. The food was light and fresh. After three courses, we left feeling satisfied but not stuffed. The salads were both specials. The sardine salad was savory and tasty. The crabmeat salad was sweet with avocado and cherry tomatoes and a lemon vinaigrette dressing. Entrees came with mixed vegetables that were at the peak of freshness. Only complaint was that the meal was a bit rushed. I’d suggest telling the waiter to slow down the pace if you’d prefer a more slow-paced, relaxing meal.

The best veal chop parmesan ever. Lobster bisque....awesome.. Service awesome. They recommended a wine and said when I open it, if you don't like it I'll drink it and open another one. Value... Awesome

We did not have a reservation but they took us anyway on a busy night. Not only was the food delicious but the service was top notch!!! I am from Long Island came for a concert.. but if I am ever in Tarrytown again this is the place I will eat. The family atmosphere and friendliness cannot be beat!! Would give them 10 stars if I could.

Another wonderful dinner at Bistro 12! Tarrytown's Restaurant Row has several good spots, but Bistro 12 tops them all for its consistently good food and warm, generous hospitality. You feel like a guest in someone's home- our favorite!

One of my favorite restaurants in Westchester. The owner Miguel caters to you as if family!

Ordered the monkfish in curry. Very good meal. My wife had filet mignon with risotto. She liked it a lot. Nice ambience. Friendly and attentive staff. Will go back. The wine selection is decent. We went at 8ish so the place was not full and was not loud.

I love everything about Bistro 12! The food is always delicious, and the owners are the best! They also have many gluten free options for me. The vibe is awesome! You'll find every age group enjoying dinner at Bistro 12.

Wow. Just..wow. Best food ever! All authentic, all home made. My only critique was how loud it was. Too many tables for a small room, but who cares about the noise when you really go for the food! The duck dish was amazing. Amazing. Flan is a must for dessert!

Walked in and did not have a reservation, and luckily the Maitre d' got us a spot in the back. The food was excellent. The egglant rollatini was balance of crunch and cheese, with the sauce not being very acidic. The ravioli was also very creamy and the leftover sauce paired with the free bread which had a balance of crunch on the outside and softness inside.Wait staff was very attentive and food service was very prompt

The service is above and beyond just like the food. The grilled octopus was the standout for me. The owners are always there to treat you like family even if it's your very first visit. They even helped entertain my 1.5 year old son so I could eat my lunch with two hands hahaha Our whole family loves this restaurant and we come here as often as we can even though it's about an hour drive. It's always worth it!

Miguel and his crew are top-notch! And you might think I know him since I know his name. But I just met him tonight when my wife and I went for the first time ever. His food is amazing, his art is on the wall, and he plays the guitar (if you're lucky). Such a nice guy.And here are some examples of overall great service during this, our first, visit: I swear they refilled my water glass over 12 times; They pulled everything off the table (pepper, olive oil, etc.) before dessert arrived; they offered us an on-the-house dessert when we couldn't decide which one we wanted; and much more. And the food was impeccable. We had the butternut squash soup, seafood risotto, bolognese, chocolate cake, and flan. (Sorry, no pictures of the main dishes).

We felt very rushed in and out of the place, it was not a relaxing experience. The food was very good though.

Went on a blind chance, for dinner with 4 friends on our annual "girls' weekend" away. Uber cab got us there by address, but you almost can't tell it's there from the street (well-kept local secret? Hidden gem?) Everything -- and I mean every single thing -- was even better than we expected. Cozy, atistic, fun atmosphere. Perfectly selected (Portuguese) wines paired with expertly crafted authentic Mediterranean recipes. Staff was warm, attentive, friendly, and generous. We WILL be back!!
